Who we are

Carvioo buys used vehicles directly from their owners across Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. This policy covers carvioo.ca and the offer form on it. We are the organisation responsible for the personal information described here.

What we collect

When you ask for an offer we collect only what is needed to identify the vehicle and send you a number:

• About the vehicle — the licence plate or VIN you enter, the postal code, odometer reading, transmission, colour, condition answers, service and accident history, and whether there is finance outstanding. If you tell us there is a loan or lease, we also collect the lender you select and the approximate balance.
• About you — your name, email address, phone number and postal code, collected at the last step, after you have seen your range.

We do not ask for your name or contact details to show you a price. Those fields appear only when you choose to receive a firm offer.

What we do with it

• Produce your estimated range and prepare a firm offer.
• Contact you about that offer and arrange collection if you accept.
• Settle any outstanding finance directly with your lender, where you have told us there is some.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Where it goes

• Stored on our server. Each enquiry is written to a file on the server that hosts this site. Those files are not reachable over the web.
• Emailed to us. A copy is sent to our team by email so a person can review it. Email delivery is handled by Resend, a third-party service.
• Vehicle identifiers sent to decoders. To turn a VIN into a year, make, model and trim we send the VIN — and nothing else — to vehicle data services including the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), VinAudit and GlobalVIN. These requests contain no personal information about you.

Licence plates

A plate is used only to identify the vehicle. We do not use it to look up the registered keeper, and we do not obtain personal information about you from it.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept while the offer is live and for as long as we need them for our records and legal obligations. If you ask us to delete your information and we have no obligation to retain it, we will.

Your rights

Under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act you may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to the address below and we will respond within the time the legislation allows.

If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the request as part of serving them.
